Family of William Curl says he is innocent | Daily Chronicle

More on the recent NIU tragedy.

William Curl's sister, Moria Curl, said her brother did not kill Keller.  "William Curl is not the killer. The killer is still out there," Moria Curl said. "They have the wrong person," Moria Curl said. "My heart pours out to Toni Keller's family, and I hope they get justice as well as we."

Curl fled to Mexico, driving his mother’s car, and then returned to the United States, Feithen said. That led the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office to file charges of obstruction of justice and unlawful possession of a motor vehicle against Curl. John Farrell, DeKalb County State's Attorney, said the obstruction charge came because Curl had information about the homicide and left the state, and the motor vehicle charge came because he took his mother’s vehicle.

Moria Curl said her brother decided to run because he felt threatened and afraid after police spoke with him. "And he was wrong for doing so, but what did you expect him to do in a case like this?" she said.

2 page full page ad paid by XXX

The sheriff’s race is really something over in McHenry County.  I cannot see who paid for this two page ad in the the NorthWest Herald but someone shell out major dollars to put down Sheriff Nygren.  In the upper left hand corner is a statement who paid for the ad but I cannot blow it up to see.  Perhaps a reader will come up with the name from the original ad.

Here are copies of the proofs of the ad as published by Cal Skinner on his blog:  http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2010/10/30/boss-hog-ads-runs-in-northwest-herald/

There also is an anti-Nygren blog, which may or may not be related to the two page ad.  See:  http://www.nygrenfraud.blogspot.com/

Many of us who are affected by Rockford news media know about the ugliness of the campaign for Sheriff of Winnebago County however McHenry County appears to be even a higher level (or should I say lower level).

William Curl, 34, is also charged with sexual assault and arson in the death of freshman student Antinette 'Toni' Keller

Public Defender Regina Harris was assigned to represent Keller after his bond hearing Saturday morning. She said she decided to ask for the evaluation after speaking to Curl on Sunday night.

Records show that in April 2004, Curl was convicted of possessing drug paraphernalia and given a conditional discharge. In August of that year, he was found guilty of retail theft.

Stephenson County officials debate traffic enforcement deputy funding - Freeport, IL - The Journal-Standard

Did Boone County ever participate in such a program?  Why can’t Boone County’s Board get such details about the revenue side of the policing function?

A key issue being debated is whether the two traffic deputies generate enough revenue in citations to subsidize their continued employment. The deputies were assigned to specialized traffic duty in 2007, and their salaries have been reimbursed annually since then through a Traffic Law Enforcement Program (TLEP) grant.

This $150,000 annual grant, which includes federal funding administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, will no longer be available to the sheriff’s office after 2010.

Nov. 1, 2008, to Oct. 31, 2009, county traffic citations generated $823,251 in revenue, of which about $478,310 went into the general fund. This includes tickets for speeding, driving while suspended or revoked, and DUI offenses, Curran said. The totals reflect traffic fines and some court costs, she said.
