Mr.Walberg decides not to reappoint Bill Luhman

Bill Luhman, Chairman of the Boone County Regional Planning Commission, seeks reappointment and then resigns when Boone County Board Chairman (Bob Walberg) does not reappoint him. See documents below.

Mr. Luhman’s last term expired December 31, 2011.

The Boone County Regional Planning Commission recently recommended “disapproval” of the controversial Wind Farm ordinance.

Mr. Luhman’s  credentials are shown below.  Mr. Luhman has more than 40 years work experience in urban planning and development.

After 40 years of service in city, county, and regional planning throughout Illinois, Bill Luhman has begun his retirement.Along with his many career successes and achievements, Bill has been a crucial factor in the development, progress and success of the Growth Dimensions organization since its inception in 1979.

During his 10 years of service as Assistant Director of the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University, Bill organized and directed Growth Dimensions as a project for the Center.Following his retirement in 1991, he became the Executive Director of Growth Dimensions.In 2002, Bill stepped back to the Assistant Director position for a less demanding work schedule.Prior to his work in Belvidere, Bill served over 11 years in the Davenport, Rockford, Moline MSA as Moline City Planner, Rock Island County Planning Director and Executive Director of the Bi-State Regional Commission.For over 10 years he served in management positions with the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission, including Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director.Bill is a native of Belvidere and has an A.B. degree in Political Science from Park College, Parkville, Missouri and an M.A. in Public Administration from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida.Bill will be greatly missed, and we grant him the best of wishes as he enjoys his retirement.

Belvidere Township, Capron candidates announced - Rockford, IL - Rockford Register Star

After the Boone County Democratic Party caucus, the group selected six candidates to appear on the township ballot, including: Lydia Gonzalez for clerk, incumbent Diann Helnore for assessor and Patrick Whitehead, Kevin Swezey, Robert Smuszkiewicz and Dolores Puplava for trustees.

The group will challenge Republican candidates Les Reid and incumbent Pat Murphy for supervisor, Kenneth McBee and incumbent Richard Lee for highway commissioner, Tami Torrance for assessor and incumbent Judy Schabacker for clerk.

Republican filers for trustee include Richard Nelson, Cathy Ward, Kathy Grover, incumbent Robert Turner, incumbent Bill Robertson and Pat Mattison.

The only other person suggested for the position was Pysson, who nominated himself. Prior to the vote, he asked the county board to spell out the chairman’s responsibilities since he believed Walberg had overstepped his boundaries in the past….

“I think perhaps the biggest thing was when he brought up the issue of discontinuing the alliance we have with the city concerning planning and zoning,” he said.
