The Boone County Board took the first steps toward establishing this court Wednesday night by agreeing to spend up to $53,000 in federal grant funding on outpatient services and care groups offered through Remedies Renewing Lives, a local non-profit that addresses substance abuse or domestic violence.“Individuals who suffer from addictions tend to graduate into bigger types of offenses to support their habit. One day is may be a possession charge. It may progress to residential burglary charges to fund their habit,” Boone County State’s Attorney Michelle Courier said.
