Rent here low nationally, middle of the road for Illinois

 

median rent paid in the U.S. in 2009, according to American Community Survey data, was $817 a month…Illinois was slightly below the national median at $813 a month…

Renters in the Rockford metropolitan area, which includes Boone and Winnebago counties, paid $661. That was less than renters had to pay in the Chicago, Champaign, St. Louis, Kankakee and Bloomington metro areas, but it is higher than Springfield, Peoria, the Quad Cities, Decatur and Danville metro areas.

Boone County ranked 14th out of 102 Illinois counties with a median rent of $690. Winnebago County was 17th at $659. Ogle came in 28th at $610 and Stephenson County was 50th with a rent of $553.
