Anderson, who has worked for a private contractor for the past 27 years, said he accepted a position with the city of Belvidere as its sewer, water and street superintendent and began that job this week.
“The board (is required to) declare the vacancy, so we’ve put it on our agenda for the board meeting on Wednesday,” Walberg said. “That’s the first step and we have 60 days to appoint, but it’s not mandatory.”
Still, the appointment could come as early as January, he said.
