Old Sullivan’s grocery gets ready for Salvation Army thrift store | Belvidere Daily Republican

Written by Bob Balgemann

The Family Store is moving from its Whitney Boulevard location because it needs more space, McClintock said. It will continue sales of clothing, furniture and household goods.

Proceeds from the store will be used to help finance the Salvation Army’s adult rehabilitation centers and keep them self-sustaining. Work therapy is part of the rehabilitation process and some of that work is done in the thrift stores.

Meijer superstore could anchor proposed Perryville development - Rockford, IL - Rockford Register Star

total of about $3.3 million in tax incentives to spur the development, which is being called the Perryville Promenade.

About $300,000 of that has already been provided as reimbursement for improving the intersection to accommodate a large retail center.

The proposal will go before the city’s planning and development committee Monday.

It would create 588 jobs during construction and 1,177 permanent full- and part-time jobs once the commercial retail center is open, according to a Northern Illinois University study.

There has been no word yet on when the center could open.

The NIU study also estimates that the 600,000 square-foot center will generate $3 million a year in annual sales tax revenue and $680,000 in property taxes.
