Summer school relocated from Cortland Elementary | Daily Chronicle

The Waste Management facility will pay part of the DeKalb County Court expansion.

Administrators made the decision to change locations following an environmental study indicating “detectable amounts” of hydrogen sulfide in the air inside and outside of Cortland Elementary.

No methane was found, but H2S levels found at two locations within the school were right around the threshold of safe levels set by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The level detected outside was 10 times higher than those inside.
