Belvidere Assembly Plant is coming back

Stellantis announced Aug. 14 that the next-generation Jeep Cherokee will be the first U.S. vehicle assembled on the new STLA One platform, and it will be built in Belvidere starting in 2028.

The STLA One platform, a flexible, modular design intended to enhance product competitiveness, improve manufacturing efficiency and simplify vehicle development across more than 30 models globally by 2035, was announced in May, according to a news release from Stellantis.

 

 

The Belvidere Assembly Plant, about 60 miles west of Chicago, is expected to assemble a minimum of two vehicles on the new design
