Does anyone have any questions? Like—is this costing us more? Was this position ever posted in the newspapers, professional journals, university placement offices? Is the Board of Health subject to Open Meetings Act? How many hours is Mr. Empereur going to spend at the Health Department for $500 per month? Was there really a nationwide search, and how much did that cost us? Perhaps this Thursday’s Health subcommittee at the County will answer your questions.

Canada Paints a Stark Picture of Chrysler’s Need - NYTimes.com
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides a deduction for state and local sales and excise taxes paid on the purchase of new cars, light trucks, motor homes and motorcycles through 2009. The deduction is available regardless of whether a taxpayer itemizes deductions on Schedule A. Purchases before Feb. 17, 2009, are not eligible for this special deduction.
The deduction is limited to the tax on up to $49,500 of the purchase price of an eligible motor vehicle. The deduction is phased out for joint filers with modified adjusted gross income between $250,000 and $260,000 and other taxpayers with modified AGI between $125,000 and $135,000.

Here is the prepared speech that President Obama just delivered. The words about Chrysler are extremely alarming:
If they are successful (FIAT merger within 30 days) "we will consider lending up to $6 billion to help their plan succeed."…”in the absence of any other viable partnership, we will not be able to justify investing additional tax dollar to keep Chrysler in business.”
