Health Director--newp

Does anyone have any questions?  Like—is this costing us more? Was this position ever posted in the newspapers, professional journals, university placement offices?   Is the Board of Health subject to Open Meetings Act?  How many hours is Mr. Empereur going to spend at the Health Department for $500 per month?  Was there really a nationwide search, and how much did that cost us?  Perhaps this Thursday’s Health subcommittee at the County will answer your questions.

Obama's tough auto stance may include bankruptcy

With about $28 billion in debt to bondholders, the GM offer would translate into $2.2 billion in cash, $4.3 billion in debt and an additional stock-based payout in a recapitalized company that would all but wipe out current stockholders.

Obama's Remarks on the U.S. Auto Industry - Washington Wire - WSJ

Here is the prepared speech that President Obama just delivered. The words about Chrysler are extremely alarming:

If they are successful (FIAT merger within 30 days) "we will consider lending up to $6 billion to help their plan succeed."…”in the absence of any other viable partnership, we will not be able to justify investing additional tax dollar to keep Chrysler in business.”

Bill to compensate Bomb makers injured by nuclear exposure - ProPublica

At least half a million people worked to build the nation's Cold War nuclear arsenal, laboring at more than 300 sites [4] across the country

Other sites were unassuming factories in the middle of major cities, including St. Louis and Chicago, where unsuspecting neighbors were oblivious to the exotic and very toxic substances being used.

Under the Charlie Wolf Act, workers would automatically be eligible for medical coverage and $150,000 in compensation if they had one of 34 diseases recognized as linked to radiation and toxic exposure
