Boone County to revisit purchase of squad cars

The nearly identical motion was voted down at last month’s meeting with only the amount being changed—last month it was $200,000.

2:30PM Apparently new written statements regarding the actual miles on the cars to be replaced has been submitted.  That information will be posted when I receive it (probably after tonight’s meeting.)

See the following for last month’s vote:  http://boonecountywatchdog.blogspot.com/2012/02/sheriff-criticized-as-county-board.html or http://boonecountywatchdog.blogspot.com/2012/02/denial-of-sheriffs-fleet-expansion.html

AGENDA:
14.1 Motion to approve purchase of (8) squad cars at a cost of $190,000.00, using Public Safety Sales Tax (not
budgeted).

The above is taken from tonight’s agenda of the Boone County Board.  Available on the internet at:  http://www.boonecountyil.org/sites/default/files/CBagenda%2003-21-12.pdf

The meeting starts at 6:30 PM tonight.

Also note that Loves Park has decided it is cheaper to lease see:  http://www.boonecountywatchdog.blogspot.com/2012/03/police-chief-loves-park-should-lease.html

8:30 The vote was not even close—Only three “no votes”.  Below is some mileage and cost figures which the Sheriff supplied to the county board.  The maintenance costs are for the entire life of the vehicle.
