Beloit Council scheduled to discuss casino IGA

Before discussing the Ho-Chunk intergovernmental agreement, or IGA, the council will consider rescinding the intergovernmental agreement signed in 2001 with the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the St. Croix Chippewa and Niizhoo Akiing.
Beloit threw its weight behind a previous casino-building effort with these tribes, but that application was formally denied in January 2009. As written, the contract expires in 2014, but the Beloit City Council could act Monday night to deem the agreement of “no further force and effect,” council documents show.
