Quarry permit and protocol, at focus of debate | Belvidere Daily Republican

There were too many unanswered questions for the Boone County Zoning Board of Appeals to make a recommendation on the requested special-use permit and extended operating hours for the Plote Quarry on 4654 Town Hall Road.

The public hearing was continued to 7 p.m., Sept. 24, at the county administration building (1212 Logan Ave).Paramount among the questions at the Aug. 27 hearing, was what happened to reports on monitoring wells sunk at the quarry, to be sure nearby residential wells weren’t being affected by mining operations. The county health department has not received any reports since 2009, according to environmental health director Bill Hatfield and others
