From now on, the Service Providers Group will be in charge of the count, which compares numbers with those found during the survey last winter. From those counts comes HUD and state money that is spent in Winnebago and Boone counties to benefit the homeless.
Danice Loveridge, chairperson of the Boone County task force, said some gaps had been identified as existing in the northern part of the county.
One of them is the lack of transportation to get the homeless from the smaller villages to Belvidere. “We’re just identifying that” situation, she said. “We don’t have a solution.”
