Company and regulators continue to study Byron nuclear shutdown

As Exelon continues to evaluate the outage, the NRC is looking at Exelon’s conclusions and determining whether further action needs to be taken.

Exelon Corp. and federal regulators are still assessing the eight-day shutdown of a nuclear reactor at the company’s Byron facility that began Jan. 30. The facility is about two hours northwest of Chicago.
