The economic stress Winnebago County was under in October fell to its second lowest level since June 2008, according to the Associated Press’ monthly Economic Stress index.
Boone County’s AP stress index score also fell in October to its second lowest level since April 2008.
Boone County’s stress index score also peaked in January 2010 at 24.54. In October, it came in at 16.67. Boone’s jobless rate fell a full percentage point from September and that offset slight rises in its foreclosure and bankruptcy rates.
Although the scores for Winnebago and Boone counties are encouraging, they remain the two most economically stressed counties in Illinois. The next closest is Kendall County with a stress index score of 16.13.
