DeKalb County board's pay rate ripe for talks in future

DeKalb county board members are paid per diem, so they receive $80 for each full board meeting and each of the two committee meetings they attend per month; that amount will increase to $85 next year, he said. Board members are required to serve on two standing committees; there are eight total.

Travel expenses are also paid to county board members for their transportation to and from the meeting, Bockman said. The county pays the current Internal Revenue Service rate of 50 cents per mile…average mileage expense per board member is $9.21

With 24 board members, the current per diem total for a full board meeting is $1,920. Adding travel expenses, a full board meeting costs about $2,141.
