Genoa’ Police K-9 unit laid off | Daily Chronicle

 

lay off a police officer, Genoa City Administrator Joe Misurelli said, and the officer cut was K-9 handler Tim Hoffstead.

The city council has not yet determined whether the loss of Hoffstead will mean the end of the K-9 program, Misurelli said, but it seems likely. At about 7 years old, Frank [a $10,000 Czechoslovakian shepherd trained to sniff out drugs] is nearing retirement age, he said.
