Contingent liabilities
An explosion of an autoclave occurred at a plant of NDK Crystal, Inc. (IL, USA), our subsidiary company in December 2009. At present, U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board is investigating the cause of the accident and our company is providing the Board with the full support so that the cause can be
determined as soon as possible. We posted 103 million yen, as extraordinary loss for the 3rd quarter which includes loss and damage in inventory and fixed assets caused by the accident. At this time, we do not know what, if any, additional
costs may be incurred as a result of the accident, and the actual results of this 3rd quarter period do not include any such additional costs.
