Illinois income tax rate may rise by 50% -- chicagotribune.com

In a Tribune exclusive, Governor Quinn is mulling over increasing the state income tax from 3% to 4.5% with personal exemption increasing from $2000 to $6000.

Last Friday when the Chicago Tribune headlined Governor Pat Quinn's plan to raise the state income tax 50%, former Governor Rod Blagojevich issued an “I told you so” press release;

“When Pat Quinn and I ran as a ticket we promised the people not to raise their income taxes. For six years, I kept that promise. It took him less than six weeks to break it.”
