In briefly revisiting the May 15 county board meeting, Cox said, “Thanks to (county board Chairman) Bob Walberg for his support and no thanks to Bill (Pysson) for his non-support.” Pysson, a county board member representing District 1 who voted against the fee increase, was at the health department board meeting and usually attends them on his own….

Belvidere Parks awarded land improvement grant | Belvidere Daily Republican

After a long dry spell with no funds to do any park improvements, the Belvidere Park District was awarded a $400,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition Development (OSLAD) grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  It will be used along with a matching amount and more in the parks department account to develop the downtown riverfront at Doty Park.

The last grant for the same amount was awarded back in 2006 and was used to help purchase Prairie Fields to develop for sports fields.  “The Belvidere Park District is pleased that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be investing in the redevelopment of this important park facility which will offer many new activities for the citizens of our district and surrounding area.

Chrysler refuses NHTSA demand for 2.7 million Jeep SUV recall - Jun. 4, 2013

 

Chrysler says that the design of the gas tank cited by NHTSA -- placed behind the rear axle -- is a commonly accepted design used in many other vehicles. It also says that the fatal accidents that occurred involving the vehicles were almost all high-speed, high-energy accidents in which a different design would have made no difference.

Tollway replies to Fire Chief’s request that Johnson Bridge be replaced

The following letter was recently received and is available on the county website at:  https://www.boarddocs.com/il/boone/Board.nsf/files/98BL3K5404E2/$file/5-28-13%20letter%20from%20Tollway_201305310928.pdf

Please note paragraph 2 in which the Tollway acknowledges they are responsible for the bridge.  There was some debate about this fact earlier.
