She is proposing an immediate salary increase for some employees, in an effort to keep them from possibly going elsewhere. The higher pay also would help fill vacancies, when they occur.
Committee members voted unanimously to recommend a “market adjustment,” to make local salaries more competitive with what is being paid in the region. An exact pool of dollars for Frank to use will be determined before the Sept. 3 meeting of the full health board.
The money will come out of the 2012-13 budget, which is good through Nov. 30, end of the current fiscal year.
Pay increases would be retroactive to Sept. 1, assuming the proposal receives board approval.
