Should the county board approve the 2.25%/2.5% increase in Health Department Fees
Here are some of the numbers supplied by the Health Department regarding the matter.
Well & Septic Inspections:
Food and Restaurant:
Here is a build up the labor/administrative cost of several inspection.
No, they should not approve the fee increases. Did the Health Department provide any reason why the fees should be increased or did they just compare themselves to other counties? I despise those kinds of comparisons. 50% are always above the median and 50% are always below the median. When you compare county to county fees always go up. Lower fees in some counties keep fees low in other. The health department needs to justify cost increases. Does the service being provided cost more? If so, how? Did they prove it? My guess is that they approached the board and they expect to get it.
The last two charts provided by the Health Department are a build up of the actual costs. Conveniently they nearly exactly equal the new fee cost. The Health Department indicated that they did a build up for all of the fees. Bill choses the fees that the costs are shown. I still hear what FedupinBonne is saying.
