Poplar Grove seeks new contract with sheriff

Trustees voted 6-0 Monday night to terminate the current protection contract with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and negotiate a new one with better terms.

wages and benefits for two full-time deputies who work 12-hour shifts on rotating days. The village also furnishes the squad cars those deputies use, and a new car is required this year. Trustee Maria Forrest suggested last week that the new car would need to be financed.
