Geneo City Administrator Joe Misurelli said: “ An independent Amtrak study showed that the DeKalb County route is the best route,"
Misurelli added that while Belvidere officials say it would cost $60 million for the Amtrak line to run through Belvidere, the Amtrak study states it would cost $32 million for the line to run through Genoa.
"With the state in the shape that it's in, why spend $30 million more?" Misurelli questioned.
