BDR: Boone County CASA seeking more volunteer advocates
An advocate will invest 10-12 hours a month, per case, while working with different people in a variety of settings and sometimes dealing with difficult problems.
They review records, research information and talk with everyone involved with the case including the child, parents, foster parents, other caretakers, teachers, family members, attorneys, social workers, counselors and anyone else who may have relevant information.
The advocate will help decide whether it’s best for a child to remain in foster care, be placed for adoption or return to his or her parents. Also, does the child need some kind of therapy? Is special education in the child’s best interest?
