Boone County Board member Marion Thornberry was in the Republican tent at the Boone County Fair on Aug. 8, responding to questions about his seeking re-election in 2014.
Among the reasons for running again, he said, was his wish to “get the health department straightened out.”
“They’re doing things that seem to be ridiculous,” he said.
He cited as an example requiring people who were giving out pre-packaged candy and bottled water at the fair to have a food permit, which cost $75
