New CDC studies on Births—39.7% unmarried childbearing

 

Unmarried childbearing increased to historic levels in 2007 for women aged 15-44. An estimated 1.7 million babies were born to unmarried women in 2007, accounting for 39.7 percent of all births in the United States – an increase of 4 percent from 2006. Unmarried childbearing has increased 26 percent since 2002 when the recent steep increases began.  Click  on the following for this government report:

Boone County Board OKs contract to shorten workweek - Rockford, IL - Rockford Register Star

Very interesting article because there are so many numbers going in various directions.  Read the article and ask yourself is there really any cut at all here?  Only two employees were cut to 32 hours beginning some date in the future and everyone received a 3% raise retroactive to November 30—the beginning of the county’s fiscal year.  That appears to be a very favorable contract to the workers ( three years of 3% increase) based upon December 2009 inflation figures of 0.1%.
