Courier to use the Illinois Street Gang Terrorism Omnibus Prevention Act

Courier’s office is also looking for the gang to pay more than $50,000 in damages to be paid to offset law enforcement costs of fighting gangs.

Once you serve them with the civil complaint, they have 30 days to respond,” Courier said. “If they don’t respond within 30 days, I could notice up a motion for default and have an order entered against them to allow me to get all of the items I’m seeking. If they do respond, I’ll notice up the case for status. If they do contest, they may request civil discovery and ultimately, the case will be set for trial."
