Average Property Tax Rates and Homeowners’ Bills in McHenry County |

Will people continue to come to Boone County to escape the high taxes of McHenry County? 

Well that may be very dependent upon where in McHenry they currently live.

Here are McHenry County’s rates:

The average tax for each community are as follows, keep in mind the higher McHenry County value of real estate makes the actual taxes higher than in Boone County.

Very interesting is the fact that lowest tax rate is for the community with the highest income—Barrington Hills—the village ranks 87th on the list of highest-income places in the United States (Wikipedia)

Poplar Grove to revisit video gaming, referendum possible | Belvidere Daily Republican

Poplar Grove resident Josh Berryhill asked for an investigation at the June 24 meeting of the village’s administration committee. He claimed Costanza had been convicted of perjury for not correctly filling out insurance license applications in the states of Wisconsin and Indiana.

Costanza said after the meeting that the mistakes were clerical errors.

And Courier stated in her letter that none of the convictions were felonies. “It does not appear that Mr. Costanza was charged criminally, nor did he have the benefit of a trial in which he was found guilty and sentenced on charges of perjury.”

Poplar Grove votes to pay past-due health insurance premiums | Belvidere Daily Republican

This is a multi-faceted problem that began in 2010, with the departure of two village employees.

Administrative Assistant Maureen Brzinski said she filled out an LGHP cancellation form, so the former employees would be removed from coverage, and forwarded it to the company.

According to Village Attorney Roxanne Sosnowski a representative of LGHP, Diann Reed, said the forms had not been forwarded to the company.

As such the company continued to bill Poplar Grove for the full premiums. The village, in turn, reduced the amount owed for the two departed employees and over a period of time the shortfall increased to $17,366.

The Finance Committee voted Monday to tack on a 30 percent administration fee to accounts that have been submitted to a collection agency. The village has recouped some money since investing in the service this year, but the cost to pay the collection agency has made its efforts less fruitful.
