The 6-3 vote came after executive session, with Kenny Freeman, Cathy Ward and Pat Mattison opposed. County Board Chairman Bob Walberg and board member Terri Glass were absent.
The contract calls for no pay increase Dec. 1, 2010, with step increases of 1 percent for six of the employees, a 1.5 percent increase this December, with steps occurring on average of an additional 2.8 percent for 17 employees and in 2012, 1.5 percent increase with steps on average of 1 percent for eight of the deputies.
on-call staff as designated by the sheriff will receive an additional four hours of compensation time when assigned to specialty units such as the Drug Enforcement Administration or the Illinois Auto Theft Task Force. Those additional hours and staff will be determined by the sheriff and it becomes effective in December.
