It claims Pope Benedict XVI and two other top Vatican officials knew about allegations of sexual abuse at St. John's School for the Deaf outside Milwaukee and called off internal punishment of the accused priest, the Rev. Lawrence Murphy.

In October a U.S. federal judge asked the Vatican to cooperate in the serving of court papers. The Vatican was not obliged to comply with the request.

The lawsuit contends Joseph Ratzinger, who is now Pope Benedict XVI; Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican secretary of state, and his predecessor, Cardinal Angelo Sodano conspired to keep quiet decades of abuse allegations against Murphy.

Murphy, who died in 1998, has been alleged to have sexually abuse some 200 boys

Waukesha Co. judge charged with disorderly conduct - Ap Life - Charleston Daily Mail - West Virginia News and Sports -

The judge as well as the county clerk appear to be in trouble in Waukesha County. 

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) Waukesha (wahk'-eh-shaw) County judge is charged with disorderly conduct after confronting her former boyfriend outside the home of another woman.

A criminal complaint says Judge Linda Van De Water kicked and jumped on the hood of the man's car as he tried to drive away from a residence in Caledonia earlier this year.

If convicted, Van De Water could be sentenced to 90 days in jail and fined $1,000.

The disorderly conduct charge is a misdemeanor offense

Waukesha vote blunder illustrates need for changes

The day-after discovery of 14,315 missing state Supreme Court votes is certainly serious. It needs to be investigated, but we do not believe it to be fraud, malfeasance or even a sign of that vast right-wing conspiracy

Government Accountability Board, which oversees Wisconsin elections, mentioned her "apparent negligence." The GAB will be sending investigators to the county this week. They will ensure that the paper ballots are secure, that the numbers add up, will review the clerk's practices and recommend changes if warranted.

According to the International Nuclear Event Scale, a level 7 nuclear accident involves “widespread health and environmental effects” and the “external release of a significant fraction of the reactor core inventory.”

The level 7 assessment has been applied only to the disaster at Chernobyl in the former Soviet Union

10,000 terabecquerels of radiation per hour was released from the plant into the environment for several hours in the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

The scale of the radiation leak has since dropped to under 1 terabecquerel per hour,

How did you spend the $50,000 you received from the McHenry County Circuit Court over the past 3+ years? Other than the $3,400 paid out for tips in 2009, what did you do with the rest of the money?

Other than this $50,000, how much did you receive from donations and other sources?

Other than Helen Torscher, who won't answer letters or email, and Richard Heizer, who has yet to return my telephone call of March 4, who are the other Board members?
Why does CrimeStoppers USA believe you are a 501(c)(3) organization, which is required for membership in CrimeStoppers USA, but IRS doesn't know of you?

Why aren't you registered with the Charitable Trust Bureau (CTB) of the Illinois Attorney General's office? Isn't this required for any organization that receives donations? (Hint: the CTB says registration is required.)

Fukushima Dai-Ichi plant offered $11 an hour for full-time maintenance work in an area of Japan that was lagging even before last month’s earthquake and tsunami struck.

The wage, the same as McDonald’s Corp. (MCD) pays for part-time work in Tokyo, shows the scale of the northern Tohoku region’s economic blight and indicates towns may never recover from the disaster. Almost 28,000 people are dead or missing and 160,000 are homeless in Tohoku, where 25 percent of the population is 65 or older and job seekers outnumber jobs by two-to-one.

Jobs recovery slows in February

 

The number of people working in Boone and Winnebago counties declined for the second straight month since December — a typical occurrence after the holiday shopping season ends.

Still, the total employed figure for the Rock River Valley increased year over year  for the 10th straight month. Before that streak, local employment had declined for 27 straight months.
