Illinois once again sets single-day state record with 12,438 new COVID-19 cases

Hospitalizations reach highest level since May 17

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 12,438 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, setting a single-day state record for the third straight day, and 76 additional deaths Saturday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate now is 10.3%. The state received the results of a single-day state record 98,418 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Saturday afternoon.

Illinois has seen 477,978 total cases of the virus, and 10,154 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 8,313,547 tests since the start of the pandemic.
