It also funds ongoing services like the resource room for job hunting and job fairs throughout the year at its locations in Rockford and Belvidere.
As part of the merger, Stephenson County will be leaving its current partnership with Jo Daviess, Ogle, Carroll and Whiteside counties. Those counties will join a similar group based in LaSalle.
Stephenson County Board Chairman Bill Hadley said business leaders recommended that the area join forces with Winnebago and Boone counties, where the resources and job training opportunities better align with Stephenson County trends.
