State picks up grocery bill, but still can't deliver | Daily Chronicle

we find an issue facing DeKalb County residents incomprehensible.
Some area families who depend upon the state to replenish their LINK cards – Illinois’ electronic version of food stamps – were faced this month with not having the money promised to them. Many have found when the anticipated shopping day arrives, the anticipated money has not.

not because money was late arriving for the program. It was because the local office of the Illinois Department of Human Services is behind in processing new applications as well as renewal forms for the LINK program.
