Conservative businessman Adam Andrzejewski, who was among a large field of contenders for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, promoted the idea, saying a so-called “forensic audit” could save Illinois an estimated $3 billion to $5 billion. He based those numbers on what he says were savings gleaned through similar exercises in Texas and Kansas.
In a recent interview with the Decatur Herald & Review editorial board, Republican Adam Brown said a “forensic audit” is key to reining in state spending. But he wasn’t sure how long the exercise would take or how much it would cost….Brown, Brady and other Republicans say an audit is a starting point
