Mr. Wait’s Seat now up for grabs in 69th District

The district includes Genoa, Kingston and Kirkland in DeKalb County, as well as portions of Boone and Winnebago counties.

See what DeKalb’s paper says about the race

Three Republicans and a Democrat say they are interested in filling the seat and plan to be on the Feb. 2, 2010, primary ballot. The district includes Genoa, Kingston and Kirkland in DeKalb County, as well as portions of Boone and Winnebago counties.

Ray Pendzinski, a Democrat from Belvidere, said he is seeking the seat. Pendzinski, 45, has been an alderman for Belvidere for three years.  Pendzinski, an electrician, said he believes Wait has not focused on the Belvidere area, and that the Republicans are not focused on middle- and low-income families.

On the Republican side, Michele Corirossi, Thadd Loffelmacher and Joe Sosnowski, all of Rockford, say they intend to seek their party's nomination.

Corirossi, 48 and a graduate of the NIU Law School, said she would draw on her experience helping with other campaigns – including her husband's, 17th Circuit Judge Ron White – as she embarked on her own

Loffelmacher, 39, has worked for other politicians and currently is the legislative aide for Wait. He said he would focus on reigning in state spending through a multi-year fiscal plan that would lay out spending priorities for the next four to six years.

Sosnowski, 32, is a graduate of Northern Illinois University who also served on the DeKalb City Council from 1999 to 2003, he said. He won a second term to the Rockford City Council last election. His background is in property management and real estate, and he currently works at Rockford Christian Schools doing fund-raising and facility planning work.

Here is the deal fellow 69th District residents:

If you have voted for Mr. Ron Wait the passed 20 years and like his leadership and what he has done for us you should continue that by voting for Thadd Loffelmacher. He will continue Representative Waits long career of working for us very hard.

If you'd like to try someone new who has a lot legal experience and law experience and is very moderate and can bridge the gap between partisan politics you should cast your vote in the primary for Michelle Corirossi.

If you like the high taxes and huge deficits Rockford has had with Mr. Joe Sosnowski as an alderman and if you'd like someone that will work hard for the special interest over "the people" well Joe Sosnowski is who you should vote for. People label Joe as very arrogant and vengeful. We don't see how that will work in the 69th Districts favor.

The state house and senate are controlled by a Democrat majority that is sure to continue after the next election and there is another option for us after the primaries. Ray Pendzinski is a democrat and will work with his fellow democrats to get things done for the 69th district. He has worked hard for Belvidere and can easily bring money our way for projects we need.

Think long and hard before you vote there are 3 really good candidates and 1 that would bring business as usual and is part of the "establishment" and special interests which will not be good for all of us.

Thank you

How many jobs has Joe Sosnowski created here in Rockford since becoming Alderman???

Joe is now saying he can create jobs for Illinois and get our state our of crisis?

Joe doesn't have any experience creating jobs and certainly doesn't have enough experience to become a State Representative.

Someone should tell Joe that since he struted into Rockford (political drifter) we now have the highest unemployment rate in the entire state at 17 percent (quoted from Mr. Sweeney in today's Rockford Register Star) 7 percent higher than the national average.

Joe is a political opportunist and this is the reason he came to Rockford to run for Mr. Wait's seat. He says he came to Rockford to be closer to family. I have yet to find any of his supposed realitives here in Rockford. I do know a Sosnowski in Rockford but they don't claim to be related to Joe.

Be very careful 69th District before casting a vote for Joe. I believe he is not what he is leading us on to believe.

High Taxes, High Deficits, High UN employment, Working for Special Interest over "The People" and being part of what is WRONG with Politics is what Joe Sosnowski has to offer us. He claims to be able to "control spending" but if you read the city council minutes for the past years he has been here he has a reputation of be "Mr. Yes" Yes to all the out of control spending! Research Joe Sosnowski in the City Council Minutes or visit the web page of factual information on him at jenkinsleggero.com/joesosnowski

There are 2 other Republicans running in the Primary that would certainly be much better than what Joe Sosnowski has to offer. Live in reality people and not the Sosnowski fantasy land!

Be Careful Boone County! Rockford has learned an expensive lesson from having Mr. Sosnowski as an alderman.

Thank you
