4 Cook judges deemed unqualified by bar retained by voters - Chicago Breaking News

 

All Cook County judges who were seeking retention were successful Tuesday.

O'Neal and Jones declined to participate in the evaluation process, resulting in an automatic "not recommended" rating.

"The committee believes that if you are going to be a judge that you come before the bar associations to be vetted," Cordero said.

The Chicago Bar Association wrote that McDunn works hard but doesn't possess the requisite legal knowledge and ability to serve on the bench. The group criticized Ryan's legal acumen and temperament.

also reached a "not recommended" finding for Aurelia Pucinski, the county's former Circuit Court clerk who was elected Tuesday to the Illinois Appellate Court. She ran unopposed for a vacant spot.

The bar group found that Pucinski was respected for "her diligence and work ethic but lacks the depth and breadth of legal knowledge" to serve on the appeals court.
